The Pure, The Original [BLACKPINK JENNIE]

Like a pure color that cannot be invaded by any impurities. The perfect color herself, Jennie.

There seems to be no end to BLACKPINK's surprising news. Becoming an ambassador to shine in the fashion world along with icons of the century, or setting a record for the most played music video in 24 hours. They have reappeared by renewing their own surprises that have been presented always as BLACKPINK. The most recent surprise came from Jennie. Jennie, Chanel Ambassador, who has been a representative example of the synergy effect that occurs when brands and celebrities meet.

Now, she is the first Korean celebrity to become the face of Chanel's fashion global campaign. If you visit Chanel's website now, you can meet Jennie looking at us with her fascinating eyes with the phrase 'Coco Neige Jennie The Face Of The 2021/22 Collection Campaign'. On the other hand, I wonder if it is too much of a fuss to be surprised by the fact that Jennie has become a model for the Chanel ‘Coco Neige’ collection global campaign. There was this saying in the various international media when they delivered this news. “It's just natural for BLACKPINK fans that Jennie has become a face of a global campaign, since fans have been always calling her "Human Chanel" since 2017."

Ski wear and winter outfits which were created by creative director Virginie Viard inspired by the snowy mountains, gathered at the studio for the <W> photoshoot (this collection will be available at the Chanel boutique from October 19th).

“Just the news that I could participate in the campaign felt like a dream. The sense of responsibility and joy grew as much as that.” Jennie who wore Coco Neige collection from Chanel's sports outdoor line before anyone else in Korea, expressed her feelings.

Jennie in the recently released campaign photo, I mean, if Jennie who captured by duo photographers Inez & Vinoodh is 'black', then Jennie in the <W> cover is closer to 'pink'. Do Inez and Vin know that Jennie has both woman and girlish side and she is attractive when she makes casual expression that is sometimes sulky or rebellious? To capture <W>  version of Jennie, what we wanted was makeup that does not hide her natural expression, and Jennie who moves freely in front of the camera. The way she stands with her toes inward like a child and holds the chain clutch, and the way she stands with her feet wide apart and stares at the camera with her hands in her pockets are all moments of Jennie-like attitude.

In early October, Jennie went to Paris Fashion Week to attend Chanel's 2022 S/S collection. There was the Eiffel Tower in a recent photo that posted on her Instagram.

"I was so excited to attend the show after in a long time. The bright and active atmosphere of the 1980s, models' exciting expressions and walking also stood out. The busy flash, shuttering sound from photographers also made the atmosphere of the show livelier. The whole collection is beautiful, so it's hard to choose only one piece you like but…The muslin dress at the end of the show is the most memorable one. I could feel the fit and mood of the 80s~ 90s, It was so nice that accessories also went well together."

The non-stop sound of shutters and flashes from the showroom are enough to ring in your ears and leave an after-image even when you entered a quiet hotel room, but Jennie seems to have felt nice liveliness in the hustle and bustle that surrounded her after a long time.

Accessories are an indispensable item to complete my look. Depending on how you match it, I can show my taste and ideas, and it plays an important role to determine the overall tone of the look” Jennie spoke of her love for accessories in an interview we had exactly a year ago. She said she has been collecting jewelry since she was a kid, and especially loves the ring from Chanel's Coco Crush items. "Personally, I like to find the symbol of a brand, such as Chanel's initials and logo in the collection. This collection had more than I expected.

Considering the strangely fast-paced time that goes by quickly, we can slowly chew over about various S/S collections presented by Paris Fashion Week. Before that, the season we have to pass is winter. The Coco Neige collection contains elegance and free movement that breaks the preconceived bias of ski-wear. Are there any similarities between those characteristics and Jennie?

Coco Neige collection each has its different charm. It's amazing how Virginie Viard brings elegance to ski wear, and it seems that she has created an unpredictable and diverse collection. I also try to think of styling that goes well with melody when I’m working on music, to think about an unconventional concept that goes well with styling. That way you can deliver different fun every time. Wouldn't that be considered as similar in that sense?

For some people, winter is the season their body shrinks, but those who are armed with confidence as a weapon wait for winter to come soon. Jennie said, “I love winter sports especially, I definitely want to go skiing wearing Coco Neige Collection this winter!”
